Upcoming Exhibition – aqua

Sunday 28 January – Sunday 18 February 2024
Aegean Designs Gallery
3760 Point Nepean Rd, Portsea VIC 3944

The paintings in the ‘aqua’ collection seek to encapsulate the robust, yet ever-changing landscapes of our Australian coastal lifestyle.

Revisiting some of my favourite piers and water scenes during changing seasons and times of day, has helped me to capture a revitalised visual narrative for this exhibition.

Some of these paintings are interpretations of previous larger works, but on smaller canvases that are more spontaneous.

Recent Exhibitions

2023 January 22nd to February 20th, “Body of Water” at Aegean Designs, Portsea

The “Body of Water” exhibition shows a renewed approach to my favourite theme.

The paintings explore what water reflects, surrounds and supports. They are made using a different process to how I painted previously. Over the past few years, I experimented with drawing, line and colour. Those experiments have enriched my work. By spending more time on the preliminary drawings and line work, I can create a more satisfying and engaging visual story. It becomes clear to me earlier in the process about what is better to leave out, and how best to lead the eye around an image.

It’s been good to return to a theme I love and to view it with fresh eyes.
