A lot of the work in the February 2022 Exhibition at Aegean Designs Portsea deals with opposites. In these paintings, if a line is man-made and straight, I have curved it. An example of this is below.

If a line is curved, which is the usual way in nature, I have straightened the line. An example of this is below.

Changing the lines alters the reality of the images I’m painting. I have painted the areas with flat or blended coloured paint to make the images recognisable to the viewer.

As well as drawing lines that oppose reality, in some paintings I replaced shades of grey with its opposite primary or secondary colours.
